Recently I ran into this video on Youtube which shows a few hacks you can do for household repairs. For example, for painting, you can use a rubber band on the paint bucket to reduce the paint on the brush, hence avoiding spillage. You can also put a foil on the tray you put paint in, hence, you do not have to clean the tray and you can re-use again.

Other idea include using magnets to hold nails and screws!
